Overhauled Event System

Brief Overview
All the changes stated here are subject to change as we see the reaction to them over time. However, the changes prioritize organic RP engagement, IC participation, and a dynamic world that will respond to players' actions rather than everything being planned. The result should hopefully be a more immersive, player-driven experience that allows for long-term involvement.

If anyone else has any suggestions regarding this concept, let me know.

1. Randomized Event Times
• No fixed event schedule, events will occur at unpredictable times - this will encourage people to remain more engaged during non-event times.
• Events will still be pre-planned by Event Staff, but the timings will be dynamic and not publicly available.

This will make events have more of a sense of realism, and as mentioned most importantly improve the non-event times role-play wise.

2. Remove Discord Event Pings and add After Action Reports (AARs)
• No more pre-event announcements in Discord, preparation time will be given however this will all be done in-game.
• Instead of the pre-event pings, after the event has concluded a staff member will post an AAR, describing what happened in the event.

This will add a level of immersion and will allow players to be more engaged in character to remain aware of scenarios that may unfold.

3. Reduce Frequency, Increase Quality
• We will no longer be having the amount everyone is used to 1 Planetary and 2 Base Events, instead this will be based on a new unpredictable system.
• Events should be thought through, not spammed.

Event Types
Disconnected Micro Events
Events that are fully independent to any other story and may only include one battalion or something just to get people engaged and doing something different (can be both passive or non-passive).
Connected Micro Events
Smaller events that will help build up to a main event.
Base/Ship Event
These will not require a map change, more expected and people know when this is happening ahead of time so they can prepare.
Planetary Event
This will be expected to have lots of preparation, and will require a map change.
Chaos Event
These events will interrupt normal duties, trainings, tryouts etc and could either be on the same map or map change it doesn't matter. There will be no preparation and can start immediately without a briefing.

The breakdown above doesn't change things too much just adds another level of depth and allow people to understand the system more. The main change is removing the monotonous 1 Planet and 2 Base Events a day and instead making it pretty much fully dynamic. And the other addition is the introduction of Chaos Events that will allow for spontaneous RP and should hopefully make the events quite realistic and immersive.

4. Campaign Involvement by High Command & Officers
• Officers will help influence campaigns/events and submit IC battle plans which event staff will then take and craft and event around.
• The officers will then get more information on the operation and be able to prepare their troops.

This will allow the senior positioned people within battalions and high command to get more involved with the actual planning of operations rather than always just being told what to do by event staff.

We do have more planned in this area development wise, but that will be introduced at a later date.

5. Pre-Event Preparation Activities
More encouraged pre-event activities (this will be mostly executed by In-Character HC not Staff).

Ideas may include:
Weapons Checks: IC prerequisite to using advanced weaponry.
Vehicle Maintenance: Required for access to battalion vehicles.
Medical Checks: Random IC injuries or conditions needing attention.
Officer Briefings: Main strategy meeting passed down to battalion briefs.
Battalion Briefs & Codeword Familiarization
Simulation Drills & Patrol Practice
Joint Operation Planning: High Command leads multi-battalion mission coordination.

6. Map-Based Interactivity
To keep the world more alive during non-event times - some ideas may include:
Civilian interactions offering lore or misinformation.
Wreckage or abandoned sites with hidden logs or items.
Clones with stories of past missions — RP depth with no mechanical benefit.
Decoded enemy intel requiring IC investigation.

Not every interaction must lead to an event — some just exist to keep the world alive during times where there are not events.

Many Thanks,
Dauntless Gaming Founders
