Most commonly is burn out, it lead to outbursts and changes in attitude/leadership. Also sometimes having an ego due to my successes as it lead to unnecessary arguments or fights.
Both issues stemmed from working too much on internal or external issues/programs, and rarely working with others, also a lack of taking personal time or breaks. Huge attempts at micro-managing and not focusing on one thing, to the point of not seeing others as a necessity and that everything relied on only me and that only I could fix it.
What would you do in order to be better in a leadership position considering past experiences?
I have worked on myself continuously the past 4 years being a leader of multiple regiments or just one after receiving multiple reports and feedback, more times requested personally. I always wished to improve and be a better role model for others, taking the brunt of the work so others can enjoy themselves whilst also ensuring they keep their sense of accountability and responsibility in their positions. Due to this as well I understand how others are detrimental to the success of one body and that I should not do everything by myself. Taking ample breaks and ensuring that even while on break to come up with ideas passively on how to improve either myself/my leadership or the unit I am leading. Always accepting criticism and keeping an open mind in discussions, and have no interest in making anything an argument or how to be "right" and to prove other people "wrong". Now I always try and combat the issue, not the person. I have and still am always willing to improve and receive any kind of feedback or criticism and act upon it.
Role Evaluation
Why do you want this role, and what motivated you to lead?I want this role purely to ensure that those striving to have a successful career in the Regiments/General Staff have an actual and fair chance, whilst training them up and giving them constant feedback on how to improve either their unit or themselves as leaders or soldiers. I have also lead the General Staff multiple times in other iterations and know how to handle it.
Being First in Command also allows other Generals to always have an incentive to work towards whilst I am not keeping a spot from them, in the mean time they do not have to rely on a external body for rewards or cooperation/overall management. Whilst having another high ranking individual in the server will help the overall organization and quicken/better decision making.
I have always seen "leading" as a very serious position. As others will look up to you when they are in need for assistance or overall direction. A good leader must always be a foundation for their unit, getting on eye level with those they are talking to and ensuring that the unit or members feel heard/seen and understood. Educating them on how to do things better and overall be a better person out of it, teaching and helping them with issues even outside of the game. Providing a steadfast figure for them to come to if the need arises and giving a representation of maturity and something to strive towards.
Why should we choose you for this position?
I have been a part of Dauntless Gaming for over 4 years now and had unrelenting dedication, passion, creativity and loyalty to the server and the people within it. I am also human and have made several mistakes but what always came first was the enjoyment and understanding of the players, inside my jurisdiction and out. At most times I came across as the opposite, but I know that helping others was the thing that has kept me going for the entire time.
I have learnt a lot with my previous decision making and iterations, trying to find a lesson each day to refine my leadership and myself as a person. I am also not afraid of giving disciplinary action if the situation calls for it, only when all parties included understand and see why drastic measures have to have taken place whilst providing an eye and level headed conversation no matter how long it would require to take for it to end.
What responsibilities do you believe this role involves?
- Tutoring/Mentoring/Training,
- Stepping in with Officer work,
- Supervising,
- Direction seeking,
- Creativity and open mindedness,
- Understanding and compassion,
- Administration/Overall management,
- Enforcing rules,
- Making procedures/protocols,
- Giving disciplinary actions,
- Giving rewards,
- Representing,
- Conducting/Organizing meetings,
- Micro-management,
- Professionality and effectiveness,
- Document making/updating,
- Providing a helping hand,
- Problem solving,
- Delegating tasks,
- Working with Battalion Command,
- Willingness for long conversations and topic discussion,
- Dedication and passion,
- Maturity and patience,
- Communication/Transparency
First it is imperative that all parties included understand that we will be discussing the topic, not arguing and we will be battling the disagreement and problem not each other. Preferably call all parties to a meeting where it is a controlled and calm environment where the said parties would say their issue openly whilst taking turns giving their side of the story, whilst I supervise the conversation ensuring no name calling, insults or personal attacks are made. The whole meeting will be an attempt to find the absolute truth of the situation and the appropriate way of handling it. The meeting would go as long as it needs to be until a resolvement is found and understood, only stepping in if further fighting is noticed or if either party cannot find an ideal solution what will benefit both.
How would you help contribute to the branch's activity, engagement and RP quality?
The General Staff is a more complex and serious administration, with each unit within it being heavily specialized with their own unique experiences and fields. First I would ensure the proper paperwork and templates are in order, providing a good organization within the spreadsheet and category for logging and overall inner communication. Next would be a meeting about said documentation and how we are supposed to operate, giving some examples and what to do in said examples, whilst conversating on how we are meant to behave and represent ourselves. Ensuring that little to no mistakes are made and to always have a humble but firm attitude. Providing discipline and leadership oriented trainings to keep up their efficiency. Furthermore to delegate tasks and assignments to each member and the first set of introductions or work. Also giving them an introduction to each regiment and to get to know each regiment and their members slowly. Meaning their trainings, how they work and especially the leadership. So every corps would recognize them as their Generals and confidence in their leadership. Serving with them and being one of their own whilst understanding boundaries and maintaining constant respect.
Above all else making sure that my Generals are appreciated for their hard work and rewarded, giving them a calm atmosphere that they can enjoy themselves in whilst working together and carrying our workload all together, no matter the position, title, longevity or reputation.
Additional Information
Is there anything else you’d like to add?I will ensure that everything runs smoothly as to the best of my capabilities, if I lack in an area I will make sure to remedy it as soon as possible. Keeping up constant communication and appreciation to each member I see and especially those who work hard to ensure fun is had whilst maintaining discipline and correct mentality. Whilst keeping my own set of standards, morality and humility as to not ever be seen as a tyrant, dictator or someone who is unjust or unfair.
